It’s been raining for days & days. Dang you Sandy.
A favorite fall comfort food of mine is homemade applesauce, you can’t beat it!
While there are hundreds of versions, I wanted to share mine with you.
Cranberry Cinnamon Applesauce
10 medium sized apples (any variety)
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
2 TBSP ground cinnamon
1/4 cup raw sugar
*cinnamon sticks optional for garnish.
Wash, core, cut & peel your apples. This is the only part that I really hate doing. Add the apples to a pot of water & bring them to a boil. Reduce the heat & cook them until they are soft & tender.
Remove the apples from the heat & drain them. Add the cranberries, cinnamon & sugar. Mash everything together (I use a potato masher) but I do like some chunks of apples so I don’t mash it all the way.
Serve warm & garnish with cinnamon sticks, it’s delightful.
Ps. I’ve been working very hard the past month updating the blog categories & making submenus at the top of the navigation bar. Horses & Heels will be easier to search by topic soon : ) I can’t wait for the changes to be done but it’s very tedious work!
