Cranberry Cinnamon Applesauce

It’s been raining for days & days. Dang you Sandy.

A favorite fall comfort food of mine is homemade applesauce, you can’t beat it!

While there are hundreds of versions, I wanted to share mine with you.

Cranberry Cinnamon Applesauce

10 medium sized apples (any variety)

1 can whole berry cranberry sauce

2 TBSP ground cinnamon

1/4 cup raw sugar

*cinnamon sticks optional for garnish.

Wash, core, cut & peel your apples. This is the only part that I really hate doing. Add the apples to a pot of water & bring them to a boil. Reduce the heat & cook them until they are soft & tender.

Remove the apples from the heat & drain them. Add the cranberries, cinnamon & sugar. Mash everything together (I use a potato masher) but I do like some chunks of apples so I don’t mash it all the way.

Serve warm & garnish with cinnamon sticks, it’s delightful.

Ps. I’ve been working very hard the past month updating the blog categories & making submenus at the top of the navigation bar. Horses & Heels will be easier to search by topic soon : ) I can’t wait for the changes to be done but it’s very tedious work!

This looks so good. My mom always has made the best apple sauce. I still look forward to when the entire family gets together for breakfast on the weekend. She has never put cinnamon in hers. I will have to suggest it. What kind of apples do you use?

P.S. I’m having a Giveaway for Crystal Stud Earrings.

We also have a Christmas Card Exchange sign up going up tomorrow.

In all honesty, I got hooked onto your blog because you post the.coolest.boots.EVER! I should also probably mention that I don’t cook. I don’t enjoy it and I could imagine roughly 989 things I enjoy better – however, this recipe has me itching to get into the kitchen and get started on your Cranberry Cinnamon Applesauce. Hopefully, this will turn out better than my attempt at Chicken Stew. ;-) In any case, I absolutely love your blog!!!

      Hi Kat,

Thank you so much for your kind words & I’m happy to have inspired you to consider cooking! This is just bare minimum cooking & think of it as apple peeling : ) Let me know how it turns out for you!
