A Cozy Outdoor Patio Refresh

I teamed up with Pier 1 on this blog post to update our outdoor dining area with this simple refresh. I was given free products from Pier 1 and affiliate links are included in this post (I’ll be compensated if someone clicks on an affiliate link and makes a purchase).

A stunning outdoor dining area gets a refresh with simple accessoriesThree weeks ago I moved in a new house in the Los Angeles area. This charming home was a lucky find, perfect for everyone in the family. It has two stalls in the backyard for horses (more on that later), a fenced in backyard of course, and an outdoor patio/dining area. Moving was stressful, but I was excited to have a blank canvas to decorate.

The before: a table and benches

The plant station before

A table with benches, a shelf, cactus, and my lemon trees were all we had to start with. I wanted to create a cozy and inviting space to enjoy meals and catch up with friends. Adam, Mango, and I headed off to Pier 1 to search for some outdoor inspiration.

An addition of an outdoor rug frames the space

Step one was picking out an outdoor rug. Patterns and prints are fun, but I wanted something neutral that would go with everything. This massive flatweave rug was perfect. It’s called the Dobby Flatweave if you search for it online. It’s currently on sale with a lot of other awesome outdoor pieces.

outdoor pillows matched the rug

Next I picked out some outdoor pillows that coordinated with the rug. These are the Calliope Jute Trim Maui Pillows. They come in many colors, but I fell in love with this cream shade.

outdoor gold hurricane candle holder

I’m obsessed with gold so naturally these metallic hurricane candle holders were a must. I picked up a pair for each end of the table. Mood lighting is so important when setting up a space.

pineapple decanter

The pineapple trend is huge right now. I fell in love with this pineapple decanter. It’s the perfect conversation piece for entertaining. I’ll use it for mixed drinks and juice when I have guests over.

outdoor dining table centerpiece

I picked up this beautiful mango wood tray to be the centerpiece for drinks. Adding a tray is an easy way to tie accessories together and avoid clutter.

The smaller bulbs are meant to be clipped onto umbrellas but I hung up an assortment instead. I mixed and matched in the larger solar lanterns as well. We get tons of sun so these babies are lit up all night. No chords, no mess. Just great lighting.

Everything was done… almost. I still needed to add plants to shelving unit. So naturally I got out my spray paint and made some magic happen.

DIY plant station with cacti and succulents

I turned dollar store terra cotta pots into glamorous pieces. My DIY plant station adds a little color to the space.

It was done! I could not be happier with how this space turned out. The rug and lighting framed the space perfectly. It created a designated outdoor zone which everyone now loves.
