May is a very good month. You have Cinco de Mayo to look forward to. Cinco de Mayo in Los Angeles means you better stop at the taco truck to pick up lunch and dinner. The taco trucks around here take all of my cash. We have a favorite truck in Echo Park and a new one down the corner from us. If I don’t feel like cooking, we head to the taco truck. I basically celebrate Cinco de Mayo all year round here in LA. I’ll be having chorizo tacos and Strawberry Beer Margaritas next month to celebrate. If you can’t come over, make these margaritas by the batch.
Beer and tequila is an excellent combination. Pick Corona or Modelo for your margaritas. The crisp flavor of Corona Extra makes it the perfect beer for every occasion, not just vacation. Corona isn’t too heavy and uses the finest-quality blend of filtered water, malted barley, hops, corn and yeast.
Modelo Especial smells like orange blossom honey with a hint of herb and is a full-flavored Pilsner-style beer. The short Modelo bottles with gold foil are also Instagram worthy. My friends always request margaritas from me at every party. I’m a margarita making queen. Fresh strawberries, lemon lime soda, limeade concentrate, tequila, and your choice of Corona Extra or Modelo Especial is all you need.
- 16 oz fresh strawberries, stems removed
- 12 oz frozen limeade concentrate
- 1 cup lemon lime soda
- 1 cup tequila
- 1 Corona Extra or Modelo Especial
- Add strawberries and limeade concentrate to the blender and puree.
- Pour mixture into a large pitcher and add soda, tequila, and a Corona or Modelo.
- Serve over ice and garnish with strawberries and lime wedges.
And that my friends, is how you celebrate Cinco de Mayo. You can find Corona and Modelo in your local grocery store in the beer and wine aisle.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
